Poppies are popping up.

I've been feeling a bit down lately so it was great to look out the kitchen window this morning and see these beautiful colours had appeared in the garden. These poppies are self-seeded so I don't know what their official name is but every year they turn up.

How can you feel down when you have these to look at?

Another thing cheering me up, reading "The Mystery of Mercy Close" by Marian Keyes. I have to admit I totally bought this book because of the back cover's mention of the Shovel List. I'm obviously a bit behind the times as I hadn't heard of a Shovel List but it immediately appealed to me, and if you're wondering what it is, here's the definition from the book:

"It's a list of all the people and things I hate so much that I want to hit them in the face with a shovel"
